We give thanks that our new Culture, Ethnicity & Diversity Workshop, which seeks to engage participants in considering and discussing issues related to identity and interpersonal cross-cultural relationships, has launched this month.
Through the exploration of scripture and case-study materials, those taking the course will be encouraged to look at ‘others’, who seem different on the basis of culture and ethnicity, and give them the value assigned as God’s children, created in His image and loved by Him. Participants will be challenged to evaluate the foundation of their personal identity – with the goal that we will all find our security in our internal identity in Christ.
Following the Workshop, participants will be able to:
- Describe what we mean by our ‘external identity’ and the impact of striving to cling to these aspects of our selves, whilst ignoring the true self within, the ‘internal identity’, created by God in His image.
- Indicate their personal sense of how living out of your identity in Christ brings about a paradigm shift in your outlook towards others and a deep and enduring sense of allegiance to your relationship with Him.
- Describe the cause and impact of broken relationships around the world that have led to violence and gross injustices.
- Be able to teach from Ephesians 2, Revelation 5:9 and 7:9 what is meant by ‘Christ’s New Humanity in United Diversity’ both on a personal level and also as a leader in a culturally diverse world.
Please pray that DAI’s Ministry Centre staff will quickly be able to adopt the new Workshop and to deploy it effectively to help leaders to foster reconciliation between people divided by their ethnicity.
